Has your Rock ‘n Roll turned blues, and your new age music old? Well cowboy-up you outlaws, cause Me and Bobby McGee have just the fix’ns to make you go ho, ho, Cho, and to send you a Bill you won’t complain about.
I thought you might appreciate an update on the shows to look forward to at the McCallum Theater, Palm Desert. An eclectic line up of stars is sheduled to appear at the McCallum Theater this September – October & beginning of November.

Boz Scaggs, Oct. 10: Blues-rock singer-guitarist now covering the Great American Songbook. Scaggs also has a new album, a collection of standards titled “Speak Low,” that was released Sept. 30 on vinyl. Eagerly anticipated since his last studio album, “But Beautiful,” went to No. 1 on the jazz charts, Scaggs will make his McCallum debut Oct. 10 before the CD comes out on Oct. 28.
Bill Maher, Oct. 11: Acerbic comic star of “Politically Incorrect.” Maher, a McCallum favorite, will perform just three weeks before the Presidential election.

Margaret Cho, Oct. 24: Asian-American comic who has won accolades for championing gay and ethnic minority rights, and her TV and stages shows. Tickets on sale Aug. 23rd. This will be Cho’s first appearance at the McCallum
The B-52s, Nov. 8: Influential dance party band that led the late 1970s new wave movement with Talking Heads. The band will be appearing as part of the McCallum's involvement in the Art of Food & Wine Palm Desert.
The B52’s dance-punk party band recently released its first CD of the new millennium, “Funplex.” McCallum Director of Presentations and Theater Operations Mitch Gershenfeld said he's looking forward to seeing the band's fans in the audience, who are known to don wigs like those worn by vocalists Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson.
“We always try to push the envelope a little,” said Gershenfeld, “(but) it's a little bit of a departure for us.” At least 20 more acts, scheduled throughout the season, will be announced Sept. 9. For ticket information go to the McCallum web site.
