DEPARTMENT OF CHILD SUPPORT SERVICES

The Department of Child Support Services promotes the well-being of children and the self-sufficiency of families by delivering effective, quality child support collection and other services for meeting children’s needs.  With offices in Riverside, San Jacinto, Indio, and Blythe, the department’s enforcement actions are designed to ensure that both parents share their obligation to provide support for their children.

The department identifies and locates a child’s parents, then establishes or modifies child and medical support.  The department employs all civil, international, interstate, intrastate and criminal legal enforcement actions necessary to help children and families get the support they need for the present and for building themselves a better future.  The department also obtains repayment from non-custodial parents of County-provided support for their minor children. 

The Department of Child Support Services strives to provide the highest level of service by maintaining effective, honest, and timely communication within the Department and with the community, so that clients are always well-informed about the availability and provisions of child support services.

This Spring DCSS will undergo a database conversion to the new centralized State Wide Automation System implemented by the State of California in order to more efficiently meet the expected increase in the public’s needs for the department's services.
