The County administers a system of Veterans' preference, which means a credit will apply additional points to total test scores for qualifying US veterans who served in the armed forces during a period of war and were honorably discharged. Additional points will be credited to qualifying veterans with a service-related disability.
To receive veterans' preference, you must submit a copy of your Member-4 Form DD-214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty), indicating dates of service, and, a copy of an official letter of service-related disability from the US Veterans' Administration (if applicable) to the Human Resources Department. For privacy reasons, it is recommended that you remove your Social Security Number from the form. A Human Resources representative will review the materials and determine if you qualify for Veteran's preference.
You may submit the form either by email mail, in-person, by postal mail, or when you test in our assessment center.
