July 2025

July Safety Spotlight: Stay Cool, Stay Safe! As summer heats up, let’s keep safety top of mind across Riverside County:

Fire Safety: July means fireworks and BBQs—remember, personal fireworks are illegal in Riverside County and pose serious fire risks. Use only county-approved venues for fireworks and always have a water source nearby.

Employee Wellness: Hydrate, take cooling breaks, and check in with co-workers. Mental health matters too—encourage positivity, balance, and early signs of burnout.

Hot Cars Kill: Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles. Even a few minutes can turn deadly.

Safe Lifting: Lift with your legs, not your back. Use assistance for heavy items and keep pathways clear to avoid trips or twists.

Message for June
Stay Safe This Summer! As temperatures rise, it's crucial to stay hydrated and recognize the signs of heat illness. Protect yourself and your coworkers by staying informed about hazard communication and hazardous waste handling—know what chemicals you're working with and how to dispose of them safely.

A respectful workplace matters: workplace bullying creates a toxic environment, but awareness and action can help prevent it. Stay up to date on SB-553, California’s workplace violence prevention law, and ensure your workplace has the right safety measures in place.

Finally, ladder safety is essential! Always inspect your equipment, maintain three points of contact, and avoid shortcuts that can lead to accidents.
